urban golf kensington

completed: 2009

The club is located within High Street Kensington Underground Station, and pays homage to its surrounding location with a contemporary quirky charm.  Inspired by the classic English country house style and time-honoured gentlemen’s clubs, the interior of the club is atmospheric and comfortable, furnished with traditional Chesterfield sofas and chairs, dark walnut panelling and floors, and Victorian inspired wallpaper.

The drama of the space is intensified by full height wall murals which were the result of a collaboration between Squire and Partners, Mammal Design and Brazilian illustrator Eduardo Recife.  The quintessentially English wall graphics feature Victorian and Edwardian golfing imagery.

The murals lead visitors through an entrance that evokes the drive up to an English country house.  Visitors are then beckoned downstairs by angels in the stairwell which opens into the reception area where the murals continue to play on the overall theme of a traditional country house drawing room and library, illustrated with a twist.
